Contributor's comments: Certainly used by my father who came from Darwin. It would certainly have been used in the 1930 and 40s there and still used by some old timers. Not really used much any more I suspect.

Contributor's comments: [Brisbane informant] My mum used to make what she called 'Burdekin Ducks' but they were corned beef in batter - not straight corned beef.

Contributor's comments: My ex Mother-in-law (born 1920s) and resident of Townsville all her life called corn beef fritters "Burdekin Ducks"
